Minjingu phosphate rock (MPR) is an ideal P fertilizer material for the highly weathered acidic soils (Buresh et al. 1997) which are widespread in western Kenya. MPR requires no further modification, apart from fine grinding. The suitability of Minjingu PR as P source for crops in P-deficient soils has been demonstrated by various authors.
