2. Coal production in Kentucky by counties, 1910-1937 (Western District) An average of many analyses shows a heating value of about 14,000 B.T.U. (13,000 to 14,500) in the Harlan-Bell County region. This decreases to 12,000± along the western border of the field and is about the same in western Kentucky.
